Timed essay question two
Explain how economic contexts influence film production.
Refer to Disney’s The Jungle Book (2016) to support your points
Economic contexts will influence film productions in the case
of remakes. For example, in the case of the jungle book (2016) the production would’ve
been influenced by many factors and one of these factors would be funding.
The jungle book was a popular movie when in it came out for
the kids in that generation. So, the remake would’ve already had an existing
audience for those kids who are now adults and have children of there own to go
and take to see the remake. But the production of the movie still needs to be
mature to interest the older audience for example the original primary target
audience was children so the format was animation , the remake is targeted at a
more mature audience so the format is live action .Since there is already an
audience for the movie it would be easier to fund due to the audience existing
there is a forecast for profit.
Economic contexts also influence if the film is shown globally
or not. Subjects in films could be insensitive to certain religions or cultures
so this can influence the film production to avoid certain behaviours so the
film can generate as large as audience as possible.
